It had only been a day since the Brigadier had been effectively 'whisked' away from UNIT, unceremoniously deposited in the Doctor's TARDIS for extremely vague reasons - something along the lines of 'finding a note for myself saying to pick you up', which thoroughly did not explain a thing - and the Brigadier was quite ready to go back home. Time travel, and space travel for that matter, was not his forte.

In fact he couldn't help but feel a bit out of place. The Doctor, not the one he was used to, dashed about the console; his companion, Donna Noble, went about as well, following whatever manic orders the man shouted out. They were working in tandem to get the TARDIS properly running while he was left to stand on the side-lines, an uninformed and currently rather useless spectator.

"I never did take you anywhere, did I, Lethbridge-Stewart?" the Doctor asked as he dashed about. "Well, except for that one time. Well, not really the ONE time..."

The Brigadier was already beginning to tune the Doctor out.

Donna was occasionally good at picking up on body cues. She knew the Doctor was about to go on a rather long tangent which - by the time he was done - would have nothing to do with what he started on. She also knew the Brigadier probably didn't care either way.

"Anyway, it's a planet called Tphru," Donna explained, cutting the Doctor off. "He says it's some sort of big techno expo-"

"The biggest showing of technological advances in the entire 33rd century," the Doctor interjected.

"Yes, that." Donna rolled her eyes. "But it's got everything! Or it's supposed to. I hope it's not too posh. Is what I'm wearing all right?" she asked, frowning and looking over herself.

Tphru. The Brigadier went over the name in his head, trying to figure out how exactly one would spell that, before letting it go. It didn't matter, it was simply something as alien as the Doctor and his TARDIS; the details were things that he could let pass.

"I'm certain you look fine for a tech expo, Miss Noble," the Brigadier said as he stepped over towards the console. "Though I don't see the reason of going..."

The Doctor buzzed over, grinning to beat all. "They've got a military section, Brigadier. Things that go bang, boom, and various other types of explosive noise - and various non-explosive ones!" The Doctor rocked back on his heels. "All the sorts of things to keep a man like you busy for hours."

The Brigadier glanced over to Donna with just the barest expression. It read as this: 'please tell me he's being foolish?'

Donna gave the Doctor a light whack on the shoulder. "Down, Fido! Just land the bloody TARDIS." The Doctor gave her a hurt look but Donna just stared back, unaffected, and eventually the skinny Time Lord relented and went back to dashing around the console. Donna walked to the Brigadier's side.

"Doing all right?" she asked. "Should be fun, you know. You can always ignore him when he babbles on about things."
